We want all our clients to understand the technology
which will be implemented in their stores.
First, make no mistake. WiFi is not the Internet, and the Internet is not WiFi.
Here’s the scoop:
- WiFi is simply a wireless radio technology which allows compatible devices to communicate with other IEEE 802.11 devices and its wired sister protocol, Ethernet.
- Internet Access refers to the ability of a network to connect to the global system of interconnected computer networks. (Source: Wikipedia). There are dozens of access methods including Broadband, DSL, Fiber, T1, Dial-up, Wireless, Cellular, and PowerLine Ethernet.
Many clients get their Internet Access from the local cable company or telephone company. These providers have attempted to make life simpler by combining multiple components
- An always-on Internet Access circuit
- An Internet Router with a built-in network hub
- A WIFI Access Point, either built-in or separate
- DNS services
Together these components make it possible for you and your guests to browse your favorite websites and access ecommerce platforms.
